the chattiest cat i know and some other news

time to bring in a cat to this blog! may a present: the cat from upstairs:

i'm looking after him while my landlords are on xmas vacation. i swear it's the most talkative cat ever! he's meowing or making some sort of sound most of the time. probably telling me off for not spending more time with him or not feeding him more...

meanwhile, the snow has come back (yay), the cold from hell still resides in my chest and makes my ribs hurt pretty badly (urgh), and shovelling snow is no fun when having to think through every movement to minimise the pain. also, while i'm cuddling the cat, my bf is busy in that far away place called antarctica and you can follow the project's progress here:
http://icerises.blogspot.com/
and of course follow them on facebook if you're on there as well. if you're a teacher and have interested students, you can also send them emails and questions directly to the ice shelf.

enough of a break, back to the snow! i need to free the car...

gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights

"Some have suggested that gay rights and human rights are separate and distinct; but, in fact, they are one and the same. ... gay rights are human rights, and human rights are gay rights." - US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a speech at the United Nations human rights programs headquarters earlier this month, in honour of the International Human Rights Day.

i'm in awe, i would not have expected such a clear message on gay rights from the US Secretary of State. my respect, and i applaud to a speech that is well worth listening to or reading through the transcript.
